Cheese and Sage Bread

Ingredients

  • 100g plain flour
  • 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • Salt
  • 50g or so cheddar or parmesan
  • Handful age leaves
  • A pinch of cayenne
  • Black pepper
  • 100g natural yogurt

Method

  1. 1Sift flour, bicarbonate of soda and salt into a large bowl
  2. 2Shred sage leaves and grate the cheese. Add both to the flour mix. Season with a pinch of cayenne and a few twists of black pepper.
  3. 3Mix in yoghurt till it becomes a soft dough. Knead briefly till smooth. Form into a round loaf and make a cross on the top.
  4. 4Bake at 200 degrees for 20-25 minutes until it sounds hollow when tapped
  5. 5on its base.
