Five-Spice Pork Belly Slices

Start this one the night before.

Ingredients

  • 2-3tsp Chinese five spice
  • 1-2tsp sea salt
  • 1 tbsp sriracha
  • 1-2 cloves garlic
  • 1-2 tbsp soya sauce
  • 1tbs sake
  • Squeeze of runny honey
  • Oil if needed
  • Pork belly slices

Method

  1. 1Mix marinade ingredients together and marinade for a least a couple of hours.
  2. 2Preheat the oven to 175°C. Pour 1 inch of water into the bottom of the pan. Place a wire rack on top of the roasting pan and place the pork belly on the wire rack. The pork belly will cook above the water, with the pork drippings dripping down below into the water. Make sure the pork belly is level.
  3. 3Bake about 45mins. Turn and baste three times.
  4. 4Or. High temp for 30mins at 220°C. Then 25mins per 500g at 160°C.
  5. 5Serve with Sichuan veg with lots of soya and rice*

Notes

Serve with Sichuan veg and rice: crispy chilli rice, garlic rice, or mushroom egg fried rice
